Voices
of Strays
Care more,
Love more,
give every stray dog a chance.
Motivation
The Reason Behind Our Project
Seeing the stray dogs on the streets motivated us to start this project. People seem to walk by the stray dogs and not consider the immense struggle they face every day. Clearly the dogs need help, but the most troubling thing is that the dogs cannot speak and their voices go silent and unheeded. Other people seem not to see the dogs straying and suffering. This motivated us to create the “Voices of Strays” project, to help people see and understand the extraordinary everyday struggles that these dogs face. Our goal is to help people see not only the dogs on the street but also the dogs' suffering and struggle, and help create a more welcoming community for the strays.
Our Goal
“Give strays a voice the world can hear; help people see them with empathy and kindness."
Methods
How We Achieve Our Goal
In order to accomplish our objective of providing a voice to strays that can be heard by the entire world and to help people understand them with empathy and kindness, we decided to visit various animal shelters to gain a deeper understanding of the realities faced by stray dogs. At these centers, we also had a chance to observe how these stray dogs are cared for. In addition, we also had a chance to talk to various people working at these centers and gained a deeper understanding of how these stray dogs are cared for and how to help them. In this way, we gained a deeper understanding of the realities faced by these stray dogs. Furthermore, we presented our understanding to various people in our society and helped them understand these realities. These are some of the ways through which we can help these stray dogs and give them a voice that can be heard by everyone.
Research Schedule
Our research had a specific timeline. From September to March, we traveled from shelter to shelter, in order to do interviews and get a chance to know about both the community and the strays better. In September, our focus was to prepare for our visits to the shelters. We wrote our visit letters, verified our interview schedules, and rechecked our interview questions. Between October and November, our focus shifted to our visits to the shelters, interactions with the staff and volunteers, and organizing our findings. In November and December, our focus was to translate our interview content, including the questions and the answers we got, which helped us to effectively utilize it for our research purposes. Between December and January, our focus was to create our poster, while making final changes and making sure everything was correct. Lastly, between January and March, our focus was to develop our website, which will enable us to share our findings and raise awareness about the lives of stray dogs.
