Interviewing Chang, Shih Kue

We interviewed a teacher in the school who is a volunteer that works in Banqiao Animal Shelter. The teacher shared many information that how the volunteers work in groups, the change of the shelters’ environment, and also his thoughts on every stages of care. We interviewed in a small meeting room, listening him talking about his experience, and how these dogs suffered unfair treatment. He inspired us wanted to know more about shelters’ operation and volunteers’ experience, so we decided to go to Banqiao Animal Shelter to know more deeper in there profession.

Comparing to interviewing Chang, Shih Kue, we got much more ideas about volunteers’ feelings of take caring stray dogs, not just the objective facts. We saw many stray dogs seems nervous and irritable in the cage.  But different dogs have different ways to express their feelings, most of them barked very loudly when we went in the space, it is actually very noisy; a few of them just stay quiet. In fact, we didn’t ask many questions about volunteers. On the one hand, we didn’t want to disturb their work, and on the other hand, too much noise made recording ineffective, so we turned our focus to the strays and how they show their mood.

Following the map and navigating the MRT transfers was a bit of a challenge, but we made it! This trip was eye-opening because it showed us how to plan our path and manage our time better. It’s a great to have the chance of the city’s transit system.

Not every dogs are unfriendly, some of them don’t bark and can play with people, just like the dogs in the red park. They were released because they behave well.  The shelter was been divided in puppy room, large and small dog exercise yard, human interaction area, etc.
